Avoid clearing menu items to work around qDeleteAll crash.

There was a previous attempt to address the object ownership
problem that turned out to be unreliable, and it's not really
worth trying to avoid the menu instanciation cost since it
doesn't happen in the hotpath and most of the actual work is
in the menu item instanciation that occurs regardless.
