Description of the change
Use the gnome debconf frontend.
This got accidentally dropped in commit 2506 by me, when converting from AptProgressDialog (which forced a gnome frontend for us) to a manually created dialog with an AptProgressBar inside.
To test:
sudo apt-get install gdm # answer it's debconf question
sudo dpkg -i lightdm_
sudo debconf bash -c ". /usr/share/
./update-manager --no-update
